Anarchism and the Politics of Technology Contemporary anarchism displays a strong ambivalence toward technology, with active resistance residing alongside extensive use and development. In this talk, Israeli activist and author Uri Gordon presents the discussion of technology in his new book "Anarchy Alive!". Criticizing both Promethean and primitivist approaches, he offers an alternative analysis that focuses on technology's reproduction of power relations, and points to directions for its reconstruction along decentralist principles. Talk followed by open discussion. October 11, 7pm SkyDragon Centre

For the October Anarchist Discussion group, the Hamilton branch is taking the show on the road to nearby Brantford with the help of a group of local supporters. We will be showing the documentary El Contrato, a film about temporary migrant workers in Southern Ontario. This is a timely event as a recently released report shows that in 2008, for the first time, more people arrived on exploitative temporary work programs than people with some access to permanent residency. The film will be followed by discussion on what this means for all workers in Canada. Free and everyone welcome. October 22, 7pm Carnegie Building 207 Laurier Brantford Hosted by Common Cause Hamilton and Brantford activists. If you live in Hamilton and need a ride to Brantford, contact us at commoncausehamilton@gmail.com We cannot guarantee rides for everyone but we will do our best.
