Préval didn’t need an earthquake to hand over the Haitian territorial waters and airspace to Madeleine Albright – under the cover of the DEA – during his first mandate. He didn’t need a natural catastrophe to hand over the land boundaries to the MINUSTAH. So, since a while now, the control of the national territory isn’t the responsibility of any national authority.

Préval didn’t need any quake to praise the MINUSTAH when it openly repressed with great violence the hunger demonstrations, when 7 people were even killed. He never needed any natural catastrophe to renew the MINUSTAH contract each year, even when they never pay attention to him when he supposedly asks for the content of this mission to change.

Préval didn’t need any quake to tell the Haitian people to “swim your way out” when a packed boat sank and many, many people drowned… or to continue playing the mute when a Haitian was beheaded on a public place in the Dominican Republic. He didn’t need any natural catastrophe to continue drinking on the backs of the Haitian workers as he plotted the illegal minimum wage for his assembly industry friends and his monopolist big bourgeois.

He’s a stooge; he has to stooge!

We already know the parliament: with all its usual scheming, twists and turns, baseness, its usual conforming, pursuing crumbs… After crumbs! This has become the word: catchphrase, watchword, password, characterizing the fall of an over and done with social formation, characterizing political trends, organizations that are reformist to the bones, as well as weak and flattened individuals. After crumbs! We see all these collaborators, what they represent in the context of the country’s falling apart. Amongst them, the legislators: we can’t expect anything from them.

We already know the American, French, Canadian governments…: we already know the governments of these “friend countries”, they who throughout the history of Haiti have always come with their boots, the violence they need to “help us”, but in fact: to reinforce the ruling classes, their allies, in order to better support the interests of the multinationals, which are their own interests.

We follow attentively – and undergo – that which they call their “democracy” and that they’ve decided, categorically, to shove down our throats. A maneuver, a permanent scheming, a deceitful reduction that aims to make democracy equal elections – and what sort of elections?!! Actually: a technical carrousel designed to mask the dictatorship of the ruling classes!

We watch a lot of the bourgeois, pro-imperialist press, presenting this degradation as a “normal”, “modern” process; and even an “opportunity” to “reconstruct the country”, without the least analysis of how the social formation arrived here, so low; what social forces, orientation, social project based this ruin; what future is concretely suggested – sweatshops -, what experience the workers and the whole social formation generally have already had with this “future”!

… Presently, the emergency law the imperialists have passed: the populist trend’s maneuvering capacity has activated a reality that was always amongst it and, accordingly, in the context of its characteristic corruption, it plays its stooge role.

Who will benefit of the greenback billions? Always the same ones. How could it now be differently?

Who will orient, control, direct the “reconstruction”? As always, the same ones, who we know. As filthy lackeys heading this government, how could it be otherwise?

Who will suffer?

This emergency law is not only illegal, as many have pointed out, because the legislature abandons the control for which they were elected; not only immoral, for having negotiated the little left of sovereignty and changed the crumb mendacity into a “developmentist institution”; not only ferociously repressive because it eliminates the exercise of the people’ s democratic rights (“the makout are out” – that was for a long time ago…!), a decision that eliminates the independent popular masses’ only means of expression in this rotten social formation; not only is it criminal by accepting, promoting, campaigning the imperialists’ objective of domination and exploitation, as the peoples’ only way out (!) but, as a final moment in a historical treason, it aims to definitely ELIMINATE US! Which may occur…
