Occupy London Ontario Callout for Anti Capitalist Contingent

Occupy London Ontario is calling on Occupy groups, Anarchists and everyone to join us for the London Day of Action against Caterpillar, in an anti-capitalist bloc. This will coincide with the Ontario Federation of Labour’s rally. We expect thousands, if not tens of thousands of people to converge upon our city for this action, and we would like to express ourselves in Solidarity! Please bring your banners, flags, signs and let's fight back for the working class!!

We will gather @ 10 am in the south-east corner of Victoria Park, at the cenotaph at Wellington and Dufferin across from London City Hall. We will then join the Labour rally in progress.

London, Ontario Anarchist Bookfair

The London, Ontario Anarchist Bookfair and Gathering is scheduled to take place on Saturday October 23rd. This is our first of what we hope will be many annual bookfairs and your participation would be much appreciated. With the attention focused on anarchists recently it is important to offer folks outside of our communities a chance to see what it really is all about and dispel media myths. It is equally important that we gather to further strengthen and build our movements to carry forward with our agendas of radical transformations.

Calling all anarchist distros and publishers! We are not charging anything for tables, but we ask that a small percentage of profits, after expenses, be donated to the bookfair to allow it to sustain itself and grow.

Present a workshop! We are running workshops throughout the day and are excited to hear from you if you have a workshop you’d like to present. We will do our best to accommodate all workshop requests.

Book Review of Black Flame

A Flame to Extinguish Capital By Deric Shannon

Book Review of Black Flame: The revolutionary class politics of anarchism and syndicalism. Oakland, CA: AK Press. By Michael Schmidt and Lucien van der Walt.

At the outset, after reading Black Flame, it's impossible not to reflect on the massive amount of research that such a work must have entailed. The book is a narrative about anarchism and, with interest in anarchism on the rise worldwide, it could not have come at a better time. There are a couple of reasons for this. One, we need new narratives of the anarchist tradition to understand where we've been. Secondly, Black Flame contains critiques of the ways that "radical" circles contemporarily have too often turned away from the radical class politics that have always defined the socialist movement.
